The Race of Champions (ROCK, THE CAT) 2023 is starting to take shape. The edition scheduled for January 28 and 29 on the icy track of Pite Havsbad in Sweden attracts old stars and a few newcomers.

There are already three beginners, and not the least: the 2022 champion of Formula 2 Felipe Drugovich, the multiple vice-world rally champion (WRC) Thierry Neuville and the Arrow pilot McLaren en IndyCar, Felix Rosenqvist.

This trio will notably face the record holder for victories in 24 Hours of Le Mans, Tom Kristensen, as well as David Coulthard, Sebastian Vettel, Johan Kristofferson, Mika Hakkinen, Valtteri Bottas, Oliver Solberg or Jamie Chadwick.

“It’s a race I’ve always wanted to do and I’m really looking forward to competing on snow and ice on the frozen Baltic Sea alongside motorsport legends, rejoices Thierry Neuville. Driving on this type of surface promises to be a lot of fun and I hope to use my experience of Rally from Sweden to be at the top. I know the competition will be tough but, for sure, I am aiming for victory and I will give my best to put on a good show this weekend at Pite Havsbad. »

As for Felix Rosenqvist, although he will play at home, he has never played this type of event. “It’s an event I’ve followed throughout my childhood until today, and I even attended it once at Wembley (England) with my father a few years ago, he recalls. I've always loved the challenge of driving different cars, and my career has been largely shaped by this curiosity, so I'm extremely excited to try the ROC and do it in front of my fans in Sweden! »

It remains to be seen whether the winner of the previous edition, Sébastien Loeb, will do it again, a dozen days after the arrival of the 2023 Dakar in Saudi Arabia.
