Rallycross France – Firmin Cadeddu crowned French champion

The French Championship of Rallycross Supercar 2016 will remain in the annals for a very long time! Indeed, throughout the season, the premier category, very often filled with more than twenty cars, offered us an exceptional spectacle! And the Lessay – Manche Rallycross was no exception to the rule…

Separated by only three points before this ninth round, Firmin Cadeddu (Citroën C4) and Fabien Chanoine (Renault Clio) were impatiently awaiting this final confrontation. After a difficult first round, the Drouais then performed superb qualifying rounds and won his semi-final with authority, which allowed him to start the final with a six-point lead over an Auvergne in difficulty throughout the week. -end!

But the final would shake up the hierarchy of the meeting... Fabien Chanoine was the victim of a turbulent start and hit the rail, damaging his left rear wheel. He still managed to reach the finish line, on three wheels, in fifth place. For his part, Firmin Cadeddu, who started at the back of the line, got through the clashes before suffering another puncture in the middle of the race. He still managed to maintain a saving second position and won, at the end of a crazy race, the title of 2016 French Supercar Champion! The Winner of the 2014 Twingo Cup thus became the youngest champion in the premier category, in his first season among the elite!

For his part, Fabien Chanoine fell just three points from the crown, to the warm applause of the crowd, after a sensational season, crowned with four victories. The Team Chanoine driver could be proud of his 2016 journey which sent shivers through the entire paddock... Quite simply, well done Fabien!

Uncompromising since the launch of this 2016 Lessay – Manche Rallycross, Andréa Dubourg (DS 3), winner of the intermediate classification and its semi-final, did not pass the first corner of the final and thus ended a difficult season in third place of the Championship.

After these multiple twists and turns, it was finally Florent Béduneau (Peugeot 208), came a long way (11th in the intermediate ranking and 4th in his semi-final), who won the Channel! He finished ahead of the new French Champion, Firmin Cadeddu, and an excellent Patrick Guillerme (Peugeot 208).

Championship ranking

Supercar: 1. Firmin Cadeddu 278 pts – 2. Fabien Chanoine 275 pts – 3. Andréa Dubourg 243 pts – 4. Philippe Maloigne 211 pts – 5. Florent Béduneau 199 pts …
