Rallycross – Team FJ-Sodemo presents its Mégane RX Supercar

Team FJ-Sodemo RX has unveiled its car with which it will take its first steps in Rallycross. The structure launched last April has developed a Megane RX Supercar. Jean-Claude Vaucard, renowned engineer who worked in WRC, at Le Mans and in Dakar (who was offered by Peugeot to work on the 2008 DKR), helped Team FJ in charge of the chassis part.

“The engine is, for the moment, a 1.6l turbo Sodemo which develops 530hp”, explains Guillaume Maillard, head of Sodemo. “It is a real laboratory where we experiment with parts and processes which aim to reduce the costs of Supercar engines, while maintaining an excellent level of performance. We are in the early stages of development, our objective being, ultimately, to offer these solutions on the Supercar market, in a capacity which will evolve according to regulations. »

The Mégane RX made its first rounds at Châteauroux (Indre), but a turbo problem ended the tests. Its participation in the French Championship scheduled for July 11 and 12 in Pont-de-Ruan (Indre-et-Loire) had to be canceled. But this mechanical damage was not enough to dampen the enthusiasm of Jérôme Galpin who took the wheel of the car.

“Guillaume was kept at the office, so it was I who took the wheel… to my greatest pleasure! It is easy to fly and responds very well to the tested setting adjustments. It’s very encouraging for the future”, underlined the director of Team FJ.
