RallycrossRX – Petter Solberg is hungry!

After a brilliant career in WRC, punctuated by a world title won in 2003 under Sébastien's nose and beard Loeb, Norwegian Petter Solberg has started a second life in RallycrossRX. “Hollywood” will be one of the bridgeheads for this 2014 season which sees the arrival of an FIA World Championship. "I'm hungry for action, says Solberg in an interview with RaceDepartment. This is why I joined the RX championship: I believe that the future of motorsport lies in RallycrossX. My real goal is to become the first world champion in two different professional motorsports. »

The Norwegian started in the discipline last year in the European Championship, and admits to having had a complicated start. “We got off to a bad start in 2013, building our car in just 6 weeks, which normally wouldn't even have been possible! Our real ambitions were to prepare for the 2014 World Championship, although we would have hoped to win one or two Euro RX rounds (the Norwegian finished 2nd in France in Lohéac, Editor’s note). We were very close, but at least we understood the car at the end of the 2013 season! »

The 2003 WRC World Champion finally admits that the Rallycross was part of a long list of potential disciplines in his retraining plans. “It was only when IMG (championship promoter) got involved in RX and started talking about a World Championship, that my interest grew. I had offers in the WTCC, at Le Mans, to combine WRC and RX, but after a lot of consideration I chose the RX for the joy it gives me. »

The first round of the season will take place from May 3 to 4 in Montalegre, Portugal.
