Scott Speed Injures Back at Nitro World Games

Scott Speed was hospitalized after suffering back pain while landing on a jump during a Nitro World Games round at Utah Motorsports Park. If the Subaru Motorsports resident was able to finish his round in his WRX STI, he will miss the rest of the event. Examinations showed that he had suffered three vertebrae fractures.

“I broke my back landing hard in Q1, explained the former pilot Toro Rosso. I was taken to the local hospital for tests and then went to see a spine specialist at the University of Utah. I finally had an MRI around 3am. It was the scariest and most painful moment I can remember. »

Scott Speed, however, landed on a fairly innocuous jump while the track has several more impressive “jumps”. The American is currently leading the Americas Rallycross with 5 points ahead of his teammate Tanner Foust, but the rest of his season is uncertain while the next round of the ARX is in a little over a month at COTA (Texas).
