Timmy Hansen crowned World RX world champion

The World Championship Rallycross World RX will have been contested until the end of the final in Cape Town, South Africa.

Si Niclas Grönholm (GRX – Hyundai i20) est sorti vainqueur de la manche de clôture de la saison, c’est Timmy Hansen (Team Hansen MJP – Peugeot 208) who snatched the Drivers' crown from Andreas Bakkerud (Monster Energy RX Cartel – Audi S1), the two drivers finishing on equal points and Hansen being crowned by number of victories (4 against 1).

The final saw Bakkerud get the best start against Timmy Hansen before the two drivers made contact. Bakkerud hits the tire wall but is able to continue his journey when Hansen spins. A maneuver placed under investigation by the commissioners for a time, before no penalty was finally imposed.

The big winner of this initial melee remains Niclas Grönholm who flies away in front of Bakkerud and will control the rest of the race. The podium is completed by Timur Timerzyanov (GRX), Timmy Hansen finishing “only” 4th ahead of his brother Kevin and Timo Scheider (Munnich Motorsport – Seat Ibiza).

This is the first world title for Timmy Hansen, second in the championship in 2015, and third in Euro RX in 2013.
