Victory and title for Kristoffersson in Austin

Johan Kristoffersson (Volkswagen) secured his second world title at the first World RX meeting in Austin (Texas). The PSRX Volkswagen Sweden driver competed in the final without pressure since he only needed a 5th place in the semi-final to win the title.

However, it was his teammate Petter Solberg who shone all weekend by being the fastest on the short track at the Circuit of the Americas. The Norwegian had a weekend close to perfection, finishing first in the qualifying heats before winning his semi-final ahead of the Swede. “Hollywood” was still leading the final ahead of his teammate after going through the joker round, but a slight error was enough for the reigning champion to take the advantage.

The podium is completed by Andreas Bakkerud (Audi) who saves a decent result for EKS, his teammate Mattias Ekström having finished last in the final behind the Peugeot Sébastien's 208 WRX Loeb and Timmy Hansen despite having made a good start from the front row.

Scott Speed (Volkswagen Beetle) became the first Americas champion Rallycross taking 2nd place behind his VW Andretti teammate Tanner Foust. Conner Martell is champion in ARX2.
