The world coronation of Johan Kristoffersson (PSRX VW Sweden – Volkswagen Polo GTi) was possible from this round in Riga in Latvia, and the Swedish driver did not miss his first opportunity to finish.
Winner in the final for the fifth time in a row, Kristoffersson claimed his first World RX title, succeeding Petter Solberg and Mattias Ekström on the list of winners. The new king of rallycross outstripped in the final confrontation the Audi S1 – EKS RX of its predecessor and Sébastien Loeb (Team Peugeot -Hansen – Peugeot 208 WRX), which signs its fifth consecutive podium.
Andreas Bakkerud (Hoonigan Racing Division – Ford Focus RS RX), Janis Baumanis (STARD – Ford Fiesta) and Nico Müller (EKS RX – Audi S1) complete the final standings. PSRX VW Sweden also took the opportunity to win the Teams title.
Note that Petter Solberg (PSRX VW Sweden) was taken to hospital as a precaution for further examinations after being involved in an accident in the second semi-final. The Norwegian suffers from a broken collarbone.
