World RX – Mattias Ekström continues at Hockenheim

By signing his third success in three rounds after Barcelona and Montalegre, Mattias Ekstrom continues an almost perfect start to the season in World RX.

The driver of the Audi S1 – EKS RX made an impeccable start in the final confrontation on a wet track, after the arrival of rain this morning, to take the advantage at the first corner.

The reigning world champion, also entered in DTM this weekend in Germany, then outpaced the Volkswagen Polo GTi – PSRX VW Sweden of Johan Kristoffersson throughout the final. Timmy Hansen (Peugeot 208 WRX – Team Peugeot-Hansen) completes the podium, the first of its season.

Petter Solberg (Volkswagen Polo GTi – PSRX VW Sweden) takes fourth place ahead Sébastien Loeb (Peugeot 208 WRX – Team Peugeot-Hansen), whose bet to start on rain tires did not offer him a sufficient advantage to move up the hierarchy. Toomas Heikkinen (Audi S1 – EKS RX) ends his day in sixth place.

Ekström still escapes a little in the championship with 85 points. Johan Kristoffersson follows in second position with 69 units, seven better than his teammate Petter Solberg. Sébastien Loeb is in fourth place with 48 points.
