World RX – Petter Solberg was under pressure in Rosario

Petter Solberg remains undefeated in the Championship after the first two seasons of World RX. The Norwegian secured the title by reaching the semi-finals of the last round played last weekend in Rosario (Argentina) against Timmy Hansen who came back strong in the second part of the year.

The tricky track conditions complicated Petter Solberg's weekend. The first day having been canceled due to poor visibility due to the dust raised by the cars, the qualifying heats were contested over a single day.

“I found out I was world champion when I was in the toilet. Do you believe that? This weekend has been completely crazy. I was incredibly nervous at the start and the delay in the qualifying heats only made it worse. I then had a problem with the car's electrical circuit which made shifting gears more difficult. This is where PSRX showed why we are world champions. No one panicked, they were able to resolve the problem”, declared the DS 3 Supercar driver.

Petter Solberg failed to win the final finale of the season, with the world champion taking third place behind Robin Larsson and Mattias Ekström after a race that was chaotic due to grip changes. “It would have been perfect to win it, but I'm not too worried about it. I came here with a goal and I accomplished it. We did not come to Argentina for a glass of champagne, but for the bottle”, concluded the Scandinavian.

With his first title acquired in 2003 in WRC, Petter Solberg is the 17th driver to win a third world title in motorsport.
