World RX – Peugeot hopes to return to EKS in Barcelona

At the end of the meeting in Lohéac (Brittany) where Sébastien Loeb got on the podium, the Team Peugeot -Hansen is 19 points behind EKS at the top of the Championship with four rounds remaining in the season.

The Franco-Swedish structure will have the opportunity to reduce its delay this weekend with the Barcelona (Spain) event held on the Catalunya circuit.

“I know the Barcelona circuit well because I have carried out numerous tests there, whether in the WTCC or at the wheel of the Peugeot 908 endurance racer. I also tried the Formula 1 Red Bull as well as a motorcycle », remembered the nine-time world champion WRC who occupies fifth place in the Drivers' standings, 16 points behind Hoonigan driver Andreas Bakkerud.

“This experience, however, will not be of use to me because the track Rallycross is of course very different. It only follows a portion of the circuit… in the opposite direction! With the start uphill and the right level of grip, the engine is likely to play an important role. I hope to be able to beat my two direct opponents in the championship and score big points for the team”, added Sébastien Loeb.

His teammate Timmy Hansen will also be able to hope for a solid result after his performances last year.

“I remember getting on the podium last year in Barcelona. I was even the driver who scored the highest number of points over the entire weekend, recalled the winner of the Trois-Rivières round (Canada). I hope to finish in the Top 3 again. The Barcelona circuit is a bit like Lohéac in terms of grip but slower. The land part is very important and it includes a big jump. Evolving in such a setting is always good. The facilities are top notch and I can't wait to race there again and forget my disappointments in Lohéac. »

“Last year we had good pace on this track, underlined Kenneth Hansen, the Team Principal of the team of the same name. There is a little more straight line than at Lohéac but this circuit should suit us. We learned some interesting lessons from the last race and we should be able to take advantage of them in Spain. We are there to play the leading roles and regain points from our main opponent. »
