World RX – Sébastien Loeb returns to competition in Canada

From the Silk Way Rally tracks to the mixed route of Trois-Rivières in Canada, Sébastien Loeb will return to competition this weekend in World RX, at the wheel of the Peugeot 208 WRX. Injured a finger in an accident on the rally-raid between Moscow and X'ian, the nine-time world champion WRC had been forced to retire, although he was firmly in the lead of the event. After having observed a short convalescence, the Alsatian is ready to return to the race.

“I have just returned from the Silk Way Rally and it is certain that coming to Trois Rivières will change my atmosphere compared to the last few weeks, explains Loeb. I really liked this city last year. The atmosphere there is really good.

The track is a little different from the others. The layout between the walls is not very forgiving of mistakes. We will therefore try to have as clean a weekend as possible in order to play our card in the final. »

Peugeot wants to maintain its invincibility

Winner twice in 2015 and 2016 in Canada, the Peugeot-Hansen team is logically aiming to win three this year. After preparation carried out in Latvia, the Franco-Swedish structure should soon bring new features to the Lioness.

Timmy Hansen, in action during these tests, says he is confident about his chances of returning to the top step of the Canadian podium, after his success in 2016, following on from that of Davy Jeanney a year earlier.
