World RX – Solberg operated to be back in Estering

Petter Solberg is preparing for an operation scheduled for early next week. The double World RX champion suffers a broken collarbone and two broken ribs following an accident at the Riga meeting (Latvia).

" I suffer alot. I decided today that I will have an operation this Monday in Sweden to stabilize my collarbone, announced Petter Solberg. I am mentally preparing for this operation and my intention is to ride in Germany (in Estering) next weekend. I have to at least give it a try, but I'll accept the situation if it doesn't work out. »

His accident was all the more regrettable as his teammate Johan Kristoffersson and his PSRX team took the title moments later after the Latvian final.

“I was devastated not to have been able to celebrate our coronations. Instead, I was crying in pain in the hospital after we had just won two world titles, added the former champion of WRC. My main goal with the team was to fight for the Teams title and we achieved our goal with three events remaining in the season. I am proud of what Johan and the team have achieved. »

Petter Solberg remains in second place in the Championship, five points ahead of Mattias Eskström (Audi S1 ​​EKS).
