World RX – Timmy Hansen leads the proceedings in Barcelona

Timmy Hansen (Peugeot 208) made a very promising debut at the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona. The Swede won the first qualifying heat before setting the second fastest time in the second session and is thus at the top of the standings on the evening of the first day.

The Scandinavian is ahead of Mattias Ekström (Audi S1), winner of the second qualifying round in the fight for the title against Championship leader Petter Solberg (Citroën). The three-time world champion finished fourth at the end of the day, following Andreas Bakkerud (Ford Focus RS) and preceding Sébastien Loeb (Peugeot 208).

The Alsatian achieved good times despite his contact with Ken Block (Focus RS) and Guy Wilks (Mini) in the first qualifying heat. The boss-driver of the Hoonigan Racing Division is only in 14th place, two places behind Davy Jeanney (Peugeot 208).
