World RX – Toomas Heikkinen leader in Barcelona

Toomas Heikkinen (Audi S1) took advantage of the deterioration of the weather in Barcelona (Spain) to take the lead after the first two qualifying rounds. The EKS driver won the second round after only taking 14th position in the first.

At the end of the first day, the Finn preceded Timo Scheider (Ford Fiesta) and Johan Kristoffersson (Volkswagen Polo), winner of the first round. The Hansen Brothers (Peugeot 208) complete the top five, with rookie Kevin ahead of Timmy.

Jean-Baptiste Dubourg (Peugeot 208) has had a great start to the season, finishing in 6th place ahead of his compatriot Sébastien Loeb (Peugeot 208). Ken Block (Ford Focus) occupies 9th place while his teammate Andreas Bakkerud is only 18th after retiring in the second heat. The Hoonigan Racing Division driver is ahead of Grégoire Demoustier (Peugeot 208) and Guerlain Chicherit (Renault Clio 3) who was unable to set a time in the first heat.

The two champions Mattias Ekström (Audi S1) and Petter Solberg (Volkswagen Polo) are on the verge of the top ten.
