Rally-Raid – Loeb liked the challenge at the Rallye du Maroc

Peugeot Sport did not have success in Rally from Morocco. Carlos Sainz retired while leading the race, while Sébastien Loeb was immediately offside for the victory following a turbo problem occurred on our 2008 DKR15+ in the first step. The main thing for the Alsatian is to have been able to reach the finish to accumulate experience in preparation for the Dakar which will begin on January 3 in Buenos Aires (Argentina).

“The results of this first rally-raid are rather positive”, declared the nine-time champion of WRC. “We had fun and, in terms of performance, we saw that we could be in the game on rolling tracks where there is driving. When we are in the dunes or the bushes, where we have to maintain a course, it is more complicated for us. When there are hidden tracks, we still sometimes have difficulty finding them. In any case, this experience allowed us to know where our strengths and weaknesses were and we now know in which direction to work. »

If the main objective of the Sochaux manufacturer was to accumulate experience, this race allowed him to note that everything was not yet in place. “The idea was that the Sébastien Loeb – Daniel Elena crew would accumulate experience”, underlined Bruno Famin, director of Peugeot Sport. “They went to the end even if they missed a few dozen kilometers. They experienced many difficulties, very varied road conditions with complicated navigation? I think the density of the training they have followed over the last five days has been both high and effective! »
