Regal takes back the reins

While storms complicated the test climbs on Saturday, even leading to the cancellation of one of them, Sunday was calmer. In the sky, but not on the track. Lionel Régal, somewhat behind for several weeks, has regained the upper hand over his rivals. From the first climb, he “slammed” for a time (1:50??784), pushing Sébastien Petit, Nicolas Schatz and Fabien Frantz two seconds behind him.

On the second climb, the rider from Rhône reaffirms his domination, improving his time by more than a second and a half and erasing the track record (1). The only one who can bear the comparison, Sébastien Petit, is still almost two seconds behind. Everything freezes when the rain starts to fall on Vuillafans. While the closed cars manage to achieve their climb on a dry track, the fastest single-seaters are content to ensure their course, a time being impossible to obtain. Lionel Régal's victory allows him to take off again in the championship. The French champion will defend his position in Dunières (Haute-Loire) on July 49.
