Romain Dumas at ease on the track and on the water

Nothing seems to stop the need for speed and Romain Dumas. Godfather of Arion Racing, the French pilot was able to try his hand at motorboat driving in the S1 category in the World Championship ofEndurance Motorboating. These F3 of lakes and rivers are carbon hull catamarans and have 60hp engines for a minimum weight of 350 kg.

« It's a new environment, at first it's a little confusing, explains the Alésien. But I'm enjoying it. We are seated well, visibility is good.

“In the end, it's like on a circuit, you try to keep the maximum speed in the corner, to get out of it as best as possible in order to accelerate as soon as possible, all while playing with this 'trim' which is similar to our gearbox. »

If the first nautical miles were laborious for the double winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, his pace at the end of the day surprised the members of the Arion Racing team. From there to sparking a new vocation for Romain Dumas?

« I think it's complicated, he admits. but I would like it. I would also like to try a more powerful one, just to see the feeling you get when exiting a corner.."
