Sébastien Loeb dominates the first day in Canada

At the wheel of a Peugeot 208 WRX at ease, Sébastien Loeb was the most energetic in Canada, for the first day of the Trois-Rivières event. The nine-time world rally champion set the best times in the two qualifying rounds and finished this Saturday at the forefront of the provisional classification.

The Frenchman precedes Mattias Ekström (Audi S1 – EKS RX), second twice, and Petter Solberg (Volkswagen Polo – PSRX VW Sweden), third twice this Saturday. Followed by the two Peugeot 208s of Timmy and Kevin Hansen, who complete the top 5 of the day.

World champion Johan Kristoffersson (Volkswagen Polo – PSRX VW Sweden) remained further behind, with a tenth place in Q1, after facing closely with Andreas Bakkerud (Audi S1 – EKS RX), then a seventh place in Q2, after being dominated in his race by Bakkerud and Timmy Hansen.

SI Guerlain Chicherit (Renault Megane RS RX – GCK RX) had been one of the big losers in Q1, after contact with Grégoire Demoustier (Peugeot 208 – Sébastien Loeb Racing), it was the other GCK driver, Jérôme Grosset-Janin who was the main victim of Q2.

In the running to win his race, the Frenchman hit the wall of tires and let slip away a victory that was in his arms.

The last two qualifying rounds and the final phases will take place tomorrow at the end of the day.
