Sébastien Loeb recounts a somewhat difficult day

The days follow each other and are not the same for Sébastien Loeb and Daniel Elena on the Dakar 2019. Setting off cautiously on Monday, the tandem of Peugeot 3008 DKR – PH Sport maneuvered well yesterday to score a great stage victory and erase a good part of the loss of time in the first stage.

But the second real stage of navigation played a bad trick on the Frenchman, first a victim of his mechanics. “I have had an engine problem since the 30th kilometer, confesses Loeb at the microphone of France TV.

We have a problem at low revs. As long as it's plateaus, it's fine, but in the dunes, we struggled a lot […] I have no idea what it is. I don't have any power at low revs. »

Despite this avatar, Loeb admitted to being rather satisfied with his pace, but above all let go in a complicated interpretation of the road book for the special. « We are lost.

I don't know what was in the road book, something really unclear I think... We were first there, and I think we lost half an hour. We lose a lot at that point. »

The Frenchman, however, remains confident despite his provisional eighth place overall, nearly 38′ behind Nasser Al-Attiyah (Toyota), second this Wednesday behind the winner Stéphane Peterhansel (Mini).

“My little experience of the Dakar makes me say that we are only in the third stage… So we are going to go back into battle tomorrow. » proclaims Loeb on social networks. Appointment made!
