Silk Way Rally – Peterhansel has plenty to respond to

The Kazakh tracks smiled on “Monsieur Dakar”. After a day of Monday spoiled by two punctures, and a net loss of 9′ in the general classification on the new leader Cyril Despres (Peugeot ), Stephane Peterhansel reacted in the best possible way this Tuesday at the wheel of the Peugeot 2008 DK16, on the route leading the competitors between Kostanay and Astana in Kazakhstan.

At the end of the 345 km against the clock, out of the 855 on the program for this rather rolling stage, the winner of the last Dakar hit hard by relegating his first pursuer Vladimir Vasilyev (Mini) to 6'22". Sébastien Loeb continued his good start to the race by remaining in third position, 7'33" behind his teammate.

“A new difficult ES in navigation where, what's more, we have still opened the road quite a bit! We ended up doing pretty well because everyone “gardened”, commented Daniel Elena on his Facebook page after the arrival.

Winner yesterday, Cyril Despres did not experience the same success, conceding 12′″51″ on Peterhansel, and lost his first place to his compatriot, the new leader with 2’41″ ahead of Vladimir Vasilyev and 2’51″ on Loeb. Despres falls back to fourth position at 3'59”.

Tomorrow, the competitors will head to Balkhash, where the finish of the stage will be judged after 821,10 km of roads and tracks, including 568,83 against the clock, one of the longest stages of this Silk Way Rally 2016.
