Silk Way Rally – “A misjudgment of danger” for Peterhansel

This is the first highlight of this Silk Way Rally 2016 among the favorites. After a fourth stage which saw him return to the lead of the event after a third special marked by two punctures, Stéphane Peterhansel made a mistake this Wednesday between Astana and Balkash.

On a bleed at kilometer 416, the last winner of the Dakar rolled from the front and largely damaged his Peugeot 2008 DKR16, as evidenced images published by the organization. The Peterhansel – Cottret crew, however, emerged unscathed from the incident.

“Three kilometers before CP3, Stéphane and Jean-Paul committed an error of assessment of a danger indicated in the road book, comments Bruno Famin, director of Peugeot Sport. The car is heavily damaged with damage to the front left and rear right suspensions. »

The Frenchman's buggy was repaired and finally left for the bivouac. “We hope to be at the start of SS6” commented Mr. Dakar on social networks. Peugeot, however, dominates the event with Cyril Despres, winner this Wednesday, and Sébastien Loeb in the first two places in the general classification.
