Smedley launches electric kart championship

The electrification of motorsport is about to hit the bottom of the pyramid. In 2020, an electric kart championship will be set up in Great Britain. The name of the series is still unknown, but not the car.

christened Electroheads, ce karting must allow the democratization of motor sports among young drivers. “As recently said Lewis Hamilton, car racing has become too expensive and not diverse enough, explains Rob Smedley, kingpin of the project and former engineer for Ferrari et Williams en Formula 1.

I totally agree with him. Thanks to the electrification of motorsport, we can change that. We will be the inspiring force (of this evolution. Editor’s note). It will be cleaner, cheaper, faster, and most importantly, fairer. »

The technical characteristics remain secret, but this championship, managed by engineers from F1, will provide the same karting to all participants. The data collected on the slopes will be shared between all teams.
