Regardless of what one could say about the state of the track, the Isola 2000 teams led by Arnaud Trévisiol succeeded in organizing 3 e-races.Andros Trophy in 2 days in order to compensate for the cancellation of the Tignes round next weekend.
For this 3rd race of the Andros e-Trophy meeting at Isola 2000, the second of the day, the drivers once again logically had to deal with a track happily mixing areas of ice and bitumen. A challenge during qualifying because we had to get the most out of studded tires which deteriorated very quickly as we passed over the tarmac.
Dorian Boccolacci (#3 – AS01 – Sébastien Loeb Racing), Jean-Baptiste Dubourg (#1 – Renault Zoé – DA Racing) and Yann Ehrlacher (#68 – AS01 Dupessey – Mracing) signed the hat-trick in this order during the first qualifying session. However, the three men had to be careful because the second qualifying session proved to be faster for most of the drivers ahead of them on the track.
Yvan Muller (#10 – Andros Sport – Mracing) had also decided to skip the first session in order to preserve his tires to try everything in Q2. A winning bet which allowed him to qualify for the Super Pole to the detriment of Aurélien Panis (#38 – Audi A1 Isère – Sainteloc Racing) handicapped by 60kg of ballast, a cruel reward for his morning victory. The local Christophe Ferrier (#06 – Métropole Nice Côte d'Azur – DRP) lost any chance of doing well by hitting on his first lap in Q2 and was excluded from Super Pole. If Boccolacci and Dubourg wisely stayed in the pits, Ehrlacher tried his luck but preferred to give up after 1 lap.
The Super Pole, rich in points, once again proved this strategy of saving tires specific to the Andros right since Boccolacci won ahead of Dubourg and Nathanael Berthon (#63 – Peugeot e208 – SP Competition) who regained a place on the front row for the Super Final next to Bocco and his faithful mount “Alice”.
Night fell on Isola 2000 when the 6 drivers qualified for the Super Final set off. Dorian Boccolacci made a great start to take the lead at the first corner and led the way to victory. Yvan Muller, who started 6th, recovered the point for the best lap to complete a great day.
Aurélien Panis leaves Isola 2000 comfortably in the lead of the Andros e-Trophy with 20 points ahead of Boccolacci and 22 over JB Dubourg still in the race to retain his title.
