A full-scale test of an e-Bike unique in the world was carried out on the sidelines of the Monaco e-Prix, on May 6, 2023. It achieved a new track speed record of more than 91 km/ h.
This e-Bike was designed by former professional cyclist Andrey Kashechkin. The Kazakh notably finished 3rd in the 2006 Tour of Spain and participated four times in the Tour de France during his career (19th in 2005). Its 11kg carbon electric bike (the lightest in existence) required 10 years of research and development. It is capable of reaching a top speed of 130 km/h in a straight line with a power of 5000 watts.
“Kash” himself tried his hand at the route of the Principality, during an event organized jointly with the Formula E. On the circuit which is also used by the Formula 1, the former Crédit Agricole and Astana rider completed three laps: a warm-up lap, a fast lap and a victory lap. His flying lap was completed in 3'38"833.
In line with this test, the organizers want to create a new discipline in the electric sports family. A championship for professional and amateur cyclists, on automobile circuits. The Electro Tour should see the light of day in 2024, open to 12 teams of 4 riders on the basis of Championship regulations, opening certain races.
