World RX – Andreas Bakkerud wins in Italy

Since the start of the season, the Ford Fiestas of Team Olsbergs MSE had failed to break the domination of Peugeot 208, Volkswagen Polo or Citroën DS3. It has now been done since this Sunday with the success of Andreas Bakkerud in Italy.

The Norwegian driver from Olsbergs MSE got the best start in the final, winning at the first corner from pole sitter Johan Kristoffersson (VW Team Sweden? Volkswagen Polo). The two men will escape but Bakkerud will not be threatened and pockets his first victory of the year.

Third, Petter Solberg (SD RX? Citroën DS3) carried out a good accounting operation since his main rival Timmy Hansen (Team Peugeot-Hansen? Peugeot 208) failed to reach the final, just like his teammate Davy Jeanney. The Franco-Swedish team still wins the Teams title. 26 points separate Solberg from Hansen before the Argentinian final.

In Euro RX, the title returned to Tommy Rustad (Marklund Motorsport) winner in Italy ahead of Jean-Baptiste Dubourg (DA Racing – Citroën C4). Jérôme Grosset-Janin (Albatec Racing? Peugeot 208) only took fifth place. In RX Lites, Kevin Hansen Jr was crowned.
