World RX – Solberg and Kristoffersson dominate in Italy

A victory and a second place everywhere, the tie is perfect between Petter Solberg (SD RX? Citroën DS3) and Johan Kristoffersson (VW Team Sweden? Volkswagen Polo) at the end of the first two qualifying rounds of the Franciacorta meeting in Italy.

If the Swede had shot first this morning, the World Champion responded immediately by winning the second round. The duo precedes the Ford Fiesta Supercar of Russian Timur Timerzyanov (Olsbergs MSE), third and fifth this Saturday.

Timmy Hansen (Team Peugeot -Hansen? Peugeot 208) was not as efficient as in the last outings in World RX, but remains lying in wait in fourth position in the provisional ranking. His teammate Davy Jeanney is in 10th place, while Guerlain Chicherit (JRM Racing? Mini) is tied for 13th with Liam Doran, twelfth and currently last qualified for the semi-finals.

The day was marked by the roll of Manfred Stohl (Team Austria? Ford Fiesta) who damaged his steering during free practice but who was able to take part in the qualifying heats after impressive work from his team. Less success for Gigi Galli, whose Kia Rio Supercar encountered an oil leak, forcing the Italian to retire for the day.

In Euro RX, Alexander Hvaal dominates with his Citroën DS3 ahead of Jérôme Grosset-Janin (Albatec Racing? Peugeot 208) and Tommy Rustad.
