World RX – Tanner Foust emerges as winner at Kouvola

Tanner Foust won the Supercars Final in Kouvola (Finland) by winning ahead of Anton Bakkerud and Reinis Nitiss at the end of an event whose second day was disrupted by rain damaging the track. Krzysztof Skorupski achieved his best result of the season with a fourth place ahead of Anton Marklund. Joni-Pekka Rajala retired at the start of the Final after taking the place of Petter Solberg. The 2003 world champion WRC was able to qualify but his Citroën DS3 suffered excessive damage during the semi-finals following contact with Liam Doran.

The pilots Peugeot were not luckier. Timmy Hansen damaged his 208 by rolling during the qualifying heats while his teammate Timur Timerzyanov suffered several punctures preventing him from qualifying for the Final. Jacques Villeneuve was well on his way to competing in the second part of the event but the 1997 world champion F1 was also slowed down by a puncture.
