WorldRX – David Binks will replace Jacques Villeneuve at Lohéac

This season, Jacques Villeneuve has to deal with his schedule as a commentator for the Grands Prix of F1 for the Canal + channel, but also with the calendar of the World Championship of Rallycross, where he plays for Albatec Racing. With an overlapping date on the weekend of September 6 and 7, the Canadian will travel to Italy for F1 at Monza, and it is the Englishman David Binks who will replace him in the seat of the Peugeot 208 RX from Andy Scott's team, for the French round of WorldRX which will take place on the Lohéac track (Ille-et-Vilaine) in Brittany.

Binks is no stranger to the rallycross scene, since the 32-year-old Briton previously played in the American Global Rallycross Challenge series in 2012 under the colors of Olsbergs MSE, but was more discreet afterwards. He will make his WorldRX debut on this occasion.

“After being away from racing for a long time, I am very happy to be invited to take a seat in Jacques' car and make my WorldRX debut at the most exciting event on the 2014 calendar,
admits Binks. I have always had a very good relationship with Andy and the whole Albatec Racing team, so I thank them for giving me this opportunity. I will take Lohéac as a springboard in the hope of a full season next year. Because unfortunately due to a change in my budget, I was unable to apply this season, but we hope to use this event as a demonstration of my potential, in order to secure the necessary funds for a full program in 2015."

He will team up with boss Andy Scott, certain of the quality of his future teammate in France. “We have a very good relationship and I am very happy that we were able to secure his services. He is undoubtedly a very talented driver, with a lot of rallycross experience, and I am confident that we will be able to provide him with the tools to do a good job. »
