Alfa Romeo 33 – A taste of unfinished business

After a new drama and a laborious development, Alfa Romeo is finally reconnecting with its glorious past. The superiority of the Ferrari 312 PB, however, prevented the 33 with V8 engine from achieving a world title.

Alfa Romeo 33 – A taste of unfinished business

Unfortunately for Alfa Romeo, the lowering of the minimum approval to 25 examples for Sport (5 liters) will give rise to Porsche 917 and Ferrari 512, relegating the Sport-Prototypes (3 liters) to the status of stooges. In 1969, Carlo Chiti (director of Autodelta, Alfa Romeo competition team. Editor's note) is starting from scratch with the 33/3, a boat with a more conventional chassis, combined with an aluminum monocoque. The cockpit is this time on the right.

The new V8 is fitted with a cylinder head with 4 valves per cylinder.
