Before celebrating his 80th birthday on September 25, 2022, Henri Pescarolo will benefit from quite a gift. The four-time winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans will indeed compete in the Tour Auto (April 25-30) aboard a BMW 3.0 CSL with the help of the manufacturer, its historic partner Motul!
The man will once again don his legendary green helmet along the five stages linking Paris to the principality of Andorra. And if a legend slips behind the wheel of a BMW, another French motorsport expert will give him the notes on the French departmental roads: Michel Périn, four-time Paris-Dakar winner with Pierre Lartigue then Nani Roma.

Henri Pescarolo will be able to rediscover the sensations he experienced between 1973 and 1974. On four occasions, the native of Montfermeil (Seine-Saint-Denis) had driven a 3.0 CSL in the competitive European Touring Championship thanks to the defunct Schnitzer team.
In addition, Henri Pescarolo is a regular at the Tour Auto. Victorious in 1997 when the event had already transformed into a historic competition thanks to Patrick Peter (Peter Auto) on an AC Cobra, the Frenchman finished second in the 1970 edition on a legendary Matra MS650, ahead of Jean-Pierre Beltoise. An unscrewed wheel nut in the Coubre special stage, then a puncture in the Ventoux hill climb had delayed the Pescarolo-Rives crew who lost 4'15" at the finish (over more than 10 hours of timed sectors).
