It’s a machine from another time that will return to service. Bentley will pull out of the barn a prototype of the Blower, the racing variant of the Bentley 4,5 Liters, produced during the inter-war period (winner at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1928). The Blower, brought up to date, will honor the heritage of its ancestor by participating in a series of events throughout 2023, and in particular at the Le Mans Classic, from June 29 to July 2. A return to Sarthe, more than 90 years after its participation in the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

This Bentley Blower was hand-built from a combination of original drawings and data obtained through a modern laser scanning process. The plans and 3D data are taken from the 4,5 supercharged Bentley 4,5 Liter (1929nd in that year's 2 Hours of Le Mans), one of the most famous Bentleys in the world. The modifications to allow this Blower prototype to enter competition have been minor and are mainly safety related. These include the installation of a rain light, mirrors, towing points, a fire extinguisher and a battery isolation switch.

This car will take up the torch on the same circuit as the initial Blower, with the same colors and with the firm intention of achieving a victory on the legendary Circuit de la Sarthe. It will also be the first Bentley to race at Le Mans since the victory of the Speed 8 in 2003. The Bentley Blower will make its first official appearance at Donington (United Kingdom) on April 29 and 30, before going to race at Le Mans from June 29 to July 3. She will end her tour at Spa-Francorchamps from September 28 to 30.

Paul Williams, technical director of Mulliner (Bentley's bespoke personalization service), explains that the Blower version 2023 “delivered perfect performance throughout the test, covering just over 611 km with an average of 133,5 km/h” at the Goodwood racing circuit.
