Being born in Paris and putting on his first skis at the age of 10, nothing really predestined Patrick Tambay to shine on the snow. And yet... Quickly, he shined on his two boards to the point of joining the French youth team as a teenager. Very quickly, he won the junior title in downhill in 1968, and even finished vice-champion in slalom the same year. His teammates on the French team don't really like his Parisian bourgeois profile, which leads Patrick to get closer to the American team, even making friends with several skiers.
