After a very high level 2023 at the LM P2 level (champion of the category in IMSA, pole position 24 Hours of Le Mans), Paul-Loup Chatin was rewarded with a signing at Alpine to represent the French brand in the Hypercar category of the World ChampionshipEndurance of the FIA in 2024. A return to where it all began for the 32-year-old driver. The native of Dourdan (Essonne) had in fact played his first season in the FIA WEC in 2015 with Signatech Alpine, then in LM P2, after a first season in the European Le Mans Series.

« For me, these were two years that were quite exceptional in human and sporting terms, very good seasons full of success, remembers Paul-Loup Chatin on the official FIA WEC website. At that time, my dream was to climb the ladder with Alpine up to the premier category. » After a stint with other French teams, particularly IDEC Sport, where he had a good time from 2018 to 2023, the Dourdannais has achieved his objective since he will be at the wheel of theAlpine A424 n°35 alongside Ferdinand Habsburg and Charles Milesi this season. A trio of LM P2 aces who have everything to shine in the top category.

« We are different but complementary, assures Chatin. There is no ego between us. The only thing we want is to win together. It's been going really well from the start. For our integration into the car, we found a good compromise, which is not easy because Charles and Ferdinand are a bit opposite in size! » First meeting for the trio: the 1 km of Qatar, opening round of the 812 WEC season, on Saturday March 2024.

« This first round in Qatar will be a real discovery for us, judge the person concerned. We will see what happens but the number one objective is to reach the finish with both cars. This means not taking unnecessary risks. We want to gain experience that will benefit us throughout the season. »

Paul-Loup Chatin is approaching this new chapter of his career with one ultimate goal in mind. “ I have a dream in motorsport: to win the 24 Hours of Le Mans with Alpine. I dreamed ofAlpine, I have the color blue in my DNA and Le Mans is the most beautiful race in the world. The 2024 edition is going to be grandiose. I would like to congratulate all those involved who have worked hard to enable the emergence of this new golden age of endurance. We can hardly dream of better, but it has to last! » Realizing this dream would allow Alpine to achieve a second success in Sarthe after that of Didier Pironi and Jean-Pierre Jaussaud in 1978.
