There will be lots of people in Catalonia for the 4 Hours of Barcelona (April 14), the scene of the first round of the 2024 campaign of theELMS. The organizers of the European championship have published a first entry list showing 43 cars, all categories combined.
LMP2s in force
This year, the “professional” LMP2 field has simply doubled from 7 cars in 2023 to 14. Reigning champions, Algarve Pro Racing are putting their title back on the line. The only driver retained from the trio, Alex Lynn is joined by Olli Caldwell and Matthias Kaiser for this new exercise aboard the Oreca 07 N°25.
A big regular at the ELMS, the United Autosports team will enter two cars this year, as will COOL Racing and Inter Europol Competition. Iron Lynx – Proton, Vector Sport, AO by TF, Nielsen Racing, IDEC Sport, Duqueine Team and Panis Racing are the other competitors in the category. All with a single Oreca 07.
Among the drivers, we find names like Robert Kubica, Louis Deletraz, Will Stevens, and Charles Milesi. There will also be a few new faces, defectors from the car like Frederik Vesti, Arthur Leclerc and even Felipe Drugovich, 2022 champion of F2.
Finally, in LMP2 Pro-Am, 8 cars are expected for a total of 22 entered. In LMP3, there will be 10.
Return of the GT3
This season will also mark the return of a category: GT3 under its name LMGT3, already used in WEC since the beginning of the year. This is a first since 2015 and the 4 Hours of Estoril.
A total of 11 LMGT3s will take to the track in Barcelona for the ELMS season premiere. Four manufacturers are represented on the entry list: Ferrari, Porsche, Aston Martin and Lamborghini.
The most used model will be the 296 GT3 from Ferrari with no less than 6 in the category.
