The Corvette C8.R at the 6 Hours of Austin

The unfortunate cancellation of the 6 Hours of Sao Paulo in favor of the 6 Hours of the Circuit of the Americas made one happy: Corvette Racing.

And for good reason, as had already been the case notably last year at the 1000 miles of Sebring, but also at the 6 Hours of Shanghai 2018, the American team will carry out a freelance WEC. A welcome addition to the Texan event, which will allow the governing bodies to get a more precise idea of the potential of the all-new C8.R, which is powered by a central rear engine.

And for good reason, they will have to opt for the fairest Performance Balance with a view to 24 Hours of Le Mans, which is never easy when a new car arrives in the category, as was the case at the start of 2018 with theAston Martin Vantage AMR and the BMW M8 GTE.

We do not yet know the identity of the drivers who will be entrusted with the car, but the presence of the “Vette” increases the contingent of entrants at the start of this 31th round of the 5-2019 season to 2020, namely 5 LM P1, 8 LM P2, 7 GTE Pro and 11 GTE Am.
