The wait is over for Ferrari!

The Prancing Horse will make its comeback in endurance racing on the Sebring circuit (Florida, United States), the Prologue of which will take place this weekend.

The wait is over for Ferrari!

D-9 before seeing the 499P of Ferrari making his debut in the World Endurance Championship. After 50 years of absence, the Prancing Horse is making its comeback in WEC for the opening round of the 2023 season, at 1000 Miles of Sebring, on March 17. Ferrari enters two hypercars there. First of all, the No. 50 crew made up of Antonio Fuoco, Miguel Molina and Nicklas Nielsen. Alessandro Pier Guidi, James Calado and the former pilot of Formula 1 Antonio Giovinazzi will take the wheel of the No. 51.

 

The Italian franchise has won the Florida exercise 12 times, the first victory dating back to 1956 with Juan Manuel Fangio and Eugenio Castellotti. In 2023, it is with the 499P that Ferrari returns to defend the colors it wore in 1973 on the 312PB. It made its first laps at the beginning of February on the Sebring track before returning to Monza (Italy). The Hypercar finalized its testing phase in Portimão (Portugal), where the drivers were able to complete their program for three days on the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve, where the crews will return on April 16 for the second meeting of the championship. The opportunity for Ferrari AF Corse to put its reliability to the test in preparation for this first round.

And expectations are high for Ferrari's return to competition: “ I feel lucky to be a Ferrari driver, says James Calado. I love the Italians' passion for Ferrari. The fans create a magical, adrenaline-filled atmosphere that we can feel, especially on the starting grid. My dream is to reward them with a triumph, why not at Le Mans, the most anticipated race, or at Monza, our home. » 

But for now, all eyes are on the Sebring event and its Prologue which will take place this weekend, March 11 and 12.
