This provisional calendar is made up of six events and one day of pre-season testing at Sebring in March 2021.

Provisional calendar for 2021 WEC season revealed

At the dawn of 24 Hours of Le Mans 2020, the Automobile Club de l’Ouest held a press conference this Friday. The opportunity for its president Pierre Fillon and Gérard Neveu, general director of WEC, to look at the 2021 season of the world endurance championship.

A provisional timetable for the next endurance campaign was thus revealed. A campaign which will return to the traditional calendar format, that is to say contested over a calendar year. On the menu for this 2021 calendar are six events across America, Europe and Asia.

The 2021 season would begin with the 1000 Miles of Sebering in the United States, a few days after the pre-season test on the same track. Then followed the rounds at Spa, Le Mans, Monza, a first, in Japan before the closing in Bahrain.

« To welcome our new queen category ofEndurance, we needed a calendar that gives the tempo and reference playing fields for these new machines », confides Pierre Fillon, president of the ACO.

Also note the absence of the Silverstone and Shanghai events from the program for the 2021 World Endurance Championship season.

This provisional schedule is “ subject to change depending on the evolution of the current health crisis, and subject to the FIA ​​World Championship calendars ", Reads the statement.

  • 19 March: 1000 Miles of Sebring (United States)
  • May 1: 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium)
  • June 12-13: 24 Hours of Le Mans
  • July 18: 6 Hours of Monza (Italy)
  • September 26: 6 Hours of Fuji (Japan)
  • November 20: 6 Hours of Bahrain (Bahrain)
