Esteban Ocon: “Day and Night”

The weekends pass and Alpine seems to be constantly progressing. Improving at Imola a fortnight ago, the French team once again showed the full extent of its work by obtaining his best result in qualifying thanks to the beautiful 6th place ofEsteban Ocon who finished 3 thousandths from a possible Top 5.

« It was a good session, a good day overall, reported the French driver happy to see that the changes made to the car from one day to the next have paid off.

We knew the car wasn't necessarily where we wanted it but we kept digging. We had different things to try and I think we took a big step forward in terms of performance and feeling ».

This major work was notably carried out between the second free practice session on Friday and the third Saturday. From then on, Esteban Ocon felt more comfortable with the A521 and was able to beat Ferrari, McLaren or even Alpha Tauri, although more efficient at the start of the season.

« It was tricky. We weren't really happy on Friday. The changes made between the two days were decisive. It was night and day behind the wheel of the car. We then made some small adjustments for qualifying and we were able to perform. The hard work paid off in the end. I must thank the members of the team because all their efforts made the difference ».

Aware of the difficulties ahead in the race, the Norman hopes to take advantage of the overtaking opportunities that Portimão offers with the aim of “ score points » at the end of the weekend.
