Fernando Alonso doesn't understand Flavio Briatore

Returned to Woking in 2015 to take up the challenge of overhauling the legendary duo McLaren-Honda with the return of the Japanese engine manufacturer as the exclusive supplier of British training, Fernando Alonso did not meet the expected results after a season and a half.

Recently, Flavio Briatore, former Renault Team Principal F1 Team during the Iberian's two world titles, and manager of the ex-pilot Ferrari, had indicated to Rai that this transfer had been an error given the performances displayed by the single-seaters of the Ron Dennis team.

Words that surprised Alonso. "I honestly don't know why he said that, explains the latter to Sky Sports. He was one of those who advised me to join this project. I hope we give him something to be happy about next year. He is certainly disappointed that the team's performance did not meet his expectations, even though he believed in this project.

I have no regrets. If you finish something, then you also have to leave it behind. This is what I did with Ferrari. I think I did my best there and it was the perfect time to leave the team. »

Alonso confirmed at the start of the year that his future in F1 would depend in particular on the 2017 single-seaters, which are expected to be much more efficient than the current ones.
