Pierre Gasly's farewell to Honda, a gift for Max Verstappen: the summary of Honda Racing Thanks Day

Honda's competition department pampers its supporters. Each end of the season, like Nissan and Toyota, the Japanese manufacturer dedicates a day of festivities on a circuit with its best motorsport ambassadors. The 2022 edition was held at the Motegi circuit this Sunday, November 27.
Invited to take part in the Red Bull RB16B from the 2021 Turkish Grand Prix andAlpha Tauri AT01 of the 2020 Italian Grand Prix, Max Verstappen et Pierre Gasly delighted the crowd with a parade and donuts.
“It’s a great day, declared the recent double world champion of Formula 1. I'm very happy to be here and proud to see so many spectators. I can only thank Honda for putting this event together. I’ve had a fantastic last two years, especially in 2022.”
The Dutchman then received the keys to a gray Honda NSX Type S from Koji Watanabe, President of Honda Racing Corporation. “This is an awesome gift, I love this car, thank you very much,” said Max Verstappen. And take a lap of the circuit on board! Two days earlier, Max Verstappen had the privilege of testing the GT500 version of the Honda NSX.

As for Pierre Gasly, the Frenchman had difficulty hiding a pang in his heart. “It was my last day as a Honda driver, declared the future teammate ofEsteban Ocon in Alpine in 2023. JI was very emotional when driving my victorious AlphaTauri at Monza in 2020.

It is also here in Motegi that I achieved my first victory in Super Formula with a Honda engine in 2017. It is the best way to close this chapter of my career. Over the past six years, working with Honda has been an incredible experience. I learned a lot, and I was amazed by the state of mind. »
His ex-teammate at AlphaTauri for the last two seasons, Yuki tsunoda, then took the microphone to pay tribute to him. “Pierre has been a pillar in my journey in Formula 1, even off the track, in physical training or in the way of interacting with others. Pierre has been a great advisor, mentor and friend to me. »
A race of karting also took place between the stars under Honda contract, as well as runs of Super GT, Super Formula, MotoGP, trials and Type-R owners. The Dakar bikers were able to complete sessions and lumps, including the new driver Honda, the Frenchman Adrien Van Beveren.
