Jolyon Palmer becomes 3rd Lotus driver

Jolyon Palmer has been confirmed as third driver and reserve within Lotus F1 Team, in addition to the holders Romain Grosjean and Pastor Maldonado reappointed this year. THE reigning GP2 Series champion will thus have the opportunity to pilot the Lotus E23 powered by Mercedes, who will have to forget the poor performances of her older sister.

The 24-year-old Briton will, however, have to be patient since he has constantly evolved in competition since his debut. “It’s clearly something different,” admits Jolyon Palmer. “I'm a little sad I won't be fighting because racing is my favorite part, but I have to take a step back. I will drive an F1 despite the lack of places and I will be part of a prestigious team. My goal is to race in F1 in 2016."

Jolyon Palmer is optimistic, but his predecessor Davide Valsecchi left at the start of last season complaining of not spending enough time behind the wheel.
