Deliberately scheduled the day after the 2022 British Grand Prix in order to bring together the greatest number of personalities linked to the Formula 1, a mass of thanksgiving dedicated to Sir Frank Williams took place at Westminster Cathedral in London (England).

The mass brought together more than 600 people in the London cathedral. Several Formula 1 drivers who have represented the Williams team over the past decades made the trip: Nigel Mansell, Damon Hill, Jenson Button, Valtteri Bottas, Nick Heidfeld, Martin Brundle, Antonio Pizzonia and Jonathan Palmer.

Team managers of opposing teams like Ron Dennis (McLaren), Eddie Jordan (Jordan), David Richards (BAR) or even Christian Horner (Red Bull) also wanted to reflect. F1 management was represented by Stefano Domenicali and Ross Brawn, a sign that Sir Frank Williams was a particularly beloved entrepreneur within the Grand Prix paddocks.

Sir Frank Williams died on November 28, 2021 at the age of 79. The founder of the eponymous team won 114 victories as well as 16 world titles in Formula 1. The British Grand Prix was also an opportunity for the Silverstone circuit to inaugurate a mural bearing the image of the late boss ofBritish team.

The work of art, 17 meters long, was imagined by street artist Marc Silver, who noticed that “fans burst into tears” at the sight of the 2,1 meter high portrait of Sir Frank Williams. “We ran out of space on Thursday evening because all the space dedicated to messages from spectators was already full”, did he declare.
