En Formula 1, the first opponent of each driver remains above all his teammate. After the first thirteen rounds of the 2022 season, certain hierarchies are already starting to be established in the teams. So, a quick overview of the battles between drivers in each of the teams on the grid before the restart at Spa-Francorchamps at the end of August.

Red Bull: Max Verstappen alone in the world

In the teams at the top of the table, this is one of the most unbalanced duels. At the house of Red Bull, the trend has been the same since the departure of Daniel Ricciardo. Max Verstappen outrageously dominates his teammates one by one and this year is no exception to the rule. If the gap of 85 points with Sergio Pérez is significant, the world champion largely leads the duel in the race (9/3) and in qualifying (10/3).

Ferrari: Status quo at the Scuderia

This season, the Team is back in the forefront and it shows in the results. With 178 points scored, Charles Leclerc dominates his teammate with a short head Carlos Sainz (156 points). If the duel in the race is balanced, that in qualifying turns largely in favor of the Monegasque. The driver from the Principality dominated the Madrilenian 11 times but very often failed to convert him at the finish line. This explains how small the gap is between the two drivers.

Mercedes: Lewis Hamilton finishes in style

Within the German team, the two drivers each had their moments of glory. If George Russell started the season very well, from Canada, the dynamic turned in favor of Lewis Hamilton. The seven-time world champion finished very strongly before the summer break as evidenced by his 5 podiums in a row. This gives a balanced duel, slightly to the advantage of the former pilot Williams in the race (7/6) and in qualifying (7/6). With 12 points ahead of Lewis Hamilton, the 24-year-old Briton saw his lead melt away and could well see it reduced further upon the restart.

Alpine : Alonso does not convert on the run

Among the Blues, an interesting paradox can be drawn up. On the one hand, Fernando Alonso dominated Esteban Ocon in the exercise of qualifications (8/5). On the other hand, the veteran of the grid does not succeed in the race and the Habs take advantage. So much so that the Normandy reversed the ratio during the Grands Prix (8/5 in his favor). This gives a fairly small gap in points between Fernando Alonso (41) and Esteban Ocon (58) but still in favor of the French driver. A result that the Blues must be satisfied with as they will lose the Spaniard at the end of the season.

McLaren: Ricciardo struggling

As in 2021, Daniel Ricciardo is lagging behind at McLaren. The Australian driver still can't do it against Lando Norris. So much so that the Briton dominated him 9 times in the race and 11 times in qualifying. This duel can also be seen in the number of points scored by the two drivers, 76 for Lando Norris and 19 for Daniel Ricciardo. In a duel with Alpine for 4th place in the championship, the Woking team can greatly thank the Briton and continues to put even more pressure on the Australian.

Alfa Romeo: Zhou suffers from the comparison

Guanyu-Zhou despite having a good first half of the season at Alfa Romeo, he still suffers in the face of Valtteri Bottas. Arrived from Mercedes who outrageously dominated the last championships, the Finn shows that he still has motivation. The 32-year-old driver beat the rookie 10 times in the race and 11 times in qualifying. With 46 points on the clock, Valtteri Bottas is the great architect of Alfa Romeo's revival. Guanyu Zhou can still be reassured, the Hinwil team is satisfied with its progress and the 5 points collected so far.

Haas: Schumacher dominates in the race but not in points

A bit like at Alpine, Kevin Magnussen et Mick Schumacher each have their own favorite terrain. In qualifying, the Dane won the battle between teammates 11 times (11/2) while in the race it was the German who won 7 times (7/5). But if the son of Michael Schumacher has finished more times in front of the 29-year-old driver, Kevin Magnussen is still ahead of him in the standings with 22 points scored against 12.

AlphaTauri: A sluggish first part of the season

That this is on the side of Pierre Gasly or Yuki tsunoda, Alpha Tauri expected better this season. With only 27 points gleaned, the Italian team failed to do better than 5th place with Pierre Gasly in Baku. Since the start of the year, the Japanese has still managed to do better than in 2021 and competes more often with the Habs in races and qualifying (8/5 for Gasly). But with only 11 points collected since the inaugural round in Bahrain, Nippon will have to do better if it wants to secure its seat for 2023.

Aston Martin: Not living up to expectations

The duel between Sebastian Vettel et Lance stroll did not start in Bahrain but in Australia because of Covid-19 contracted by the German. With 2 Grands Prix less, this does not prevent the duel from being balanced between the two teammates at Aston Martin. The four-time world champion beat the Canadian 6 times in the race (6/5) and 8 times in qualifying (8/3). But if it seems balanced during the Grands Prix, having not done better than 10th place this season, the son of Lawrence Stroll is already 12 points behind the former Ferrari driver.

Williams: No adaptation problem for Albon

When we look at the last team on the grid, we might think that it is Nicholas latifi who discovered Williams for his first season. But no, it's good Alexander albon who joined the Grove-based team at the start of the season and like George Russell before him, he assumes the role of number 1 driver. The Thai beat his teammate 10 times (10/3) by scoring the only 3 points of his team this season in 13 rounds. In short, this zero point hurts Nicholas Latifi who is starting his third season at Williams which should very probably be his last.
