McLaren presents the MCL32

It's the turn of McLaren-Honda to unveil its car, the MCL32, which marks a break from the series of F1 of Woking with the end of the name "MP4". As expected, the British manufacturer is returning to its legendary orange color.

After a 2016 season where the British structure was only able to take 6th place in the Manufacturers' Championship, the MCL32 will have the mission of putting McLaren back in the first part of the peloton. Replacing Jenson Button with Stoffel Vandoorne could help the team achieve this goal.

“We responded to the expectations of the fans who demanded that we return to the color orange. We know that we are getting people talking about us by changing the name and livery of the car”, commented Zak Brown, executive director of McLaren.

“I quickly felt at home at McLaren. We made sure we had the right people in the right places and provided the necessary resources to return to success. We are obviously frustrated not to win any more races, but the 2017 season should mark progress after several difficult seasons. We just need time and patience. »

“Winter is always a stressful time in teams, underlined Éric Boullier, Team Principal of McLaren-Honda. The car is physically successful and we expect it to be fast too. We worked transparently with Honda for the design of the car. We made sure that the aero and the chassis work in symbiosis with the engine. »

“This is the first time we've seen it completely assembled, commented Fernando Alonso. The car looks spectacular. Single-seaters become beautiful if they are fast and I think its look is successful. The drivers will be more passionate about driving these new F1 cars, but we have to wait until the first winter tests next week to know where we stand. We have high hopes this year, but this discipline is very complex and we cannot make any promises. Despite everything, we are here because we believe we can win. The team has been working on this F1 for 7 or 8 months and they must be congratulated. »

“I've been part of the McLaren family for four years now and I'm finally a starter., added Stoffel Vandoorne. I will obviously try to beat my teammate, but the main objective is to put the team back at the front and we will do whatever it takes to achieve that. We have prepared ourselves well physically to be able to drive these faster F1 cars. »

“We have made progress in every area of the engine. The goal is to get more power. With the change of single-seater, we had to reduce the place of the Power Unit. It was a big challenge to take on and I am proud of the work accomplished. We won't make any promises for this season, but we will make sure we get the best possible result.", said Yusuke Hasegawa, Honda's F1 project director.
