10 spectators expected in Assen

An audience attending a car race is rare enough these days to make it an event. THE DTM has decided to authorize the presence of spectators in the stands for the Assen meeting, scheduled for September 4 to 6.

10 fans should be able to arrive every day, Saturday and Sunday. They will have to respect a very specific protocol in order to guarantee a distance of 000 meters between each person and avoid crossings between spectators from the different stands. Events around the races will not be able to take place, and only the stands will be accessible. Prices have therefore been reduced.

“The big advantage of the Assen circuit is that it offers a lot of space” explains Lee Van Dam, organizer of the DTM event in Assen. “ We have the largest stand in Europe, in which we can accommodate ten thousand spectators while maintaining a good distance, with parking spaces dedicated to each stand and direct access to each sector. »

The Assen round would be one of the first events in Europe to welcome the public. “This is very big news” assures Gerhard Berger, president of the ITR, promoter of the DTM.  “A lot of people followed the first round at Spa, but the enthusiastic fans in the stands are part of the race. »

The situation may still evolve, since the Netherlands, like many countries, is experiencing an increase in Covid-19 cases.
