Three BMWs and three official drivers for Schubert Motorsport in DTM

Schubert Motorsport will power three in 2024. The German team will field a shock trio in DTM this season: the three BMW M4 GT3s will be occupied by three official drivers from the propeller brand but above all, three former champions of the discipline.

René Rast (champion in 2017, 2019 and 2020) and Sheldon van der Linde (champion in 2022) are back for a new campaign, respectively aboard the #33 and #31 BMWs, while Marco Wittmann (champion in 2014 and 2016 ) joins them on the #11 BMW. The German flew with Project 1 last year, but the team filed for bankruptcy this Monday and will not be on the DTM grid this year.

“The DTM continues to play a very important role in our extensive racing program for the 2024 season, said Andreas Roos, head of BMW M Motorsport. We underline our commitment with a high-level line-up that boasts a total of seven DTM titles: one team title for Schubert Motorsport, three drivers' titles for René Rast, two drivers' titles for Marco Wittmann and one drivers' title for Sheldon van der Linde. By concentrating our BMW factory drivers within one team, we are pooling our strengths and creating the optimal conditions to once again play an important role in the fight for the title. »

Let us also remember that the three drivers are part of the Hypercar program in Endurance and are currently competing in the Prologue WEC in Qatar, a few days before the start of the season.
