Just like at home, Team WRT and Dries Vanthoor (Audi) took part in the Pre-Qualifying session of the 24 Hours of Spa (Belgium) this Thursday, July 29. The young driver (23 years old) stood out from the first minutes of the session, contested under mild skies, before handing over the wheel to his teammates Kelvin van der Linde and Charles Weerts.

“For the moment, everything is going well. explains GT World Challenge Europe Sprint Cup title holder. We will mainly focus on the tires to optimize the behavior of the Audi R8 LMS for the rest of the weekend. Above all, you must avoid mistakes, because anything can happen in this race. When it comes to strategy, Team WRT has little to prove in Endurance."

Marvin Kirchhöfer was then responsible for placing theAston Martin Vantage from Garage 59 in second place in the hierarchy, ahead of Marco Wittmann's BMW M6. The first Frenchman classified is Mathieu Jaminet, with the fourth time in his Porsche 911 GT3 R from GPX Racing.

The nice surprise concerns the only Bentley Continental GT3 lined up in the Ardennes, that of the French CMR team shared by Stuart White, Pierre-Alexandre Jean, Nelson Panciatici and Ulysse de Pauw (7th). In all, 19 GT3s are held within the same second!

With just over a quarter of an hour to go, Robert Renauer (Porsche) had a big heat. The German suffered a puncture to his right rear tire in a very fast place, the Blanchimont corner. Fortunately, the Herberth Motorsport 911 GT3-R was able to reach its stand without any further damage, apart from an exploded polystyrene panel. The debris left by the free figure still required the intervention of the Belgian commissioners.

The qualifying session will begin at 20:50 p.m. and end at 22:10 p.m. this Thursday, July 29 in the evening.
