On a track which improved as the session progressed, Mercedes gave a scathing reply to Audi during Q2 of the Green Hell double round this Friday morning. Grace to the Alzen – Arnold – Götz – Seyffarth quartet, the No. 3 AMG GT88 of the Haribo Racing Team was the fastest of the session with a new best time in 8'16 "311 compare to the 8'21"951 achieved last night by Laurens Vanthoor at the wheel of the No. 8 Audi R1 LMS of the Audi Sport Team WRT.
If Mercedes signs a hat-trick in Q2 with the No. 29 of HTP Motorsport of Vietoris – Seefried – Hohenadel – Van der Zande and the No. 14 of Team Black Falcon of Al Faisal – “Gerwin” – Dontje – Huff, Audi remains in contact with the No. 8 R6 LMS of the Audi Sport Team Phoenix of Haase – Rast – Winkelhock – Stippler.
La Porsche 911 GT3R from Frikadelli Racing from Abbelen – Schmitz – Huisman – Siedler is in fifth place ahead of three other Mercedes-AMG GT3s and an Audi R8 LMS. The No. 911 Manthey Racing Porsche 3 GT911 R from Tandy – Bamber – Estre – Pilet climbed into the top 10. Note the mechanical problems of the No. 3 Nissan GT-R Nismo GT24 from Team Zakspeed. The session to determine the Top 30 will begin at 19:50 p.m.
