ADAC GT Masters – Gounon shines across the Rhine

29 points ahead. The gap that Jules Gounon and Daniel Keiltwitz possess before starting the fifth round of the ADAC GT Masters this weekend in the Eifel, has nothing decisive against the tandem of Phillippi – Mies (Audi R8 LMS – Montaplast by Land-Motorsport), but it demonstrates the quality of the Franco-German duo's start to the season.

Vice-champion of France F4 in 2013, Jules Gounon made the big leap to GT in 2015 by taking part in the Porsche Carrera Cup France, after being named Espoir Carrera Cup France 2015. A season with a somewhat disappointing conclusion for the son of Jean-Marc Gounon, former driver F1, after an injury to a vertebra which had prevented him from fully defending his chances.

The rebound for 2016 will finally take place on the other side of the Rhine, in the ADAC GT Masters championship. Aligned with the new Corvette C7 GT3 developed by Callaway Competition, Jules Gounon supports the 2013 champion of the discipline Daniel Keilwitz.

The association immediately posted good results with a victory in the second race of the second meeting of the year at the Sachsenring. So much so that after two other successes at the Lausitzring and the Red Bull Ring, the pair can legitimately claim the title at the end of the year.

“I take each race as it comes and I try to avoid looking at the general classification, admitted Gounon earlier in the season. The Corvette suits me very well, we have a very good team and my teammate is very fast. I'm living my dream in ADAC GT Masters.

I could hardly believe my eyes when I saw the entry list: Winkelhock, Abt, Mies, Sandström, Vanthoor… I was so excited. And now I'm fighting these guys on the track. »

In parallel with the ADAC GT Masters, Jules Gounon also took part in the 24 Hours of Spa in a Konrad Motorsport Lamborghini Huracan.
